About Us
The Lakes Area Community Center is located in the lakes region of west central Minnesota in the small town of Battle Lake. The service area surrounding the town covers approximately 300 square miles, contains several large, pristine inland lakes and dozens of smaller lakes in a setting of mixed wooded areas and rolling agricultural land. The population is made up of all age groups with some preponderance of retirees; the summer brings a large increase due to seasonal residents and vacationers.
The Lakes Area Community Center (LACC) is a non-profit, charitable organization started in April of 2008 to establish a community center for the benefit of the people of the greater Battle Lake area and purchase a building in which to turn this dream into reality. The LACC Directors are all volunteers. Funding for the purchase of the building, furnishings, start-up expenses, and operating expenses comes from day use and room rentals, event revenues, grants, but mostly, community donations. LACC has IRS 501 (c) 3, charitable organization status that allows donations to be tax deductible. The community center does not receive any tax revenues and is not connected with the City of Battle Lake. People in the greater Battle Lake area have long recognized the need for a community center and are responding to the opportunity to Make It Happen! (Click here to view our "Founders Corner")

LACC provides:
- a center for the community where people with shared interests can gather to socialize and promote personal growth.
- a “hub” where visitors, newcomers and seasonal residents can obtain information about the area and get acquainted with long-term residents.
- a facility where all ages can attend programs, performances, reunions, receptions, exhibits, banquets and meetings.
LACC sponsors a, thirteen-week, summer concert series called “Come To The Lakes” which includes well-known area groups, as well as some very talented local artists. The community center is being used by many local organizations for meetings and events. In addition, there are plans for events, programs, fairs, conferences, bookmobile days, and much more! All at a place the people of the greater Battle Lake area can call their Community Center!
